Tourcoing is part of the Nord department of France, in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, and situated in northern France. Tourcoing is just a few minutes northeast of Lille, near the Belgian frontier. Together with Roubaix, a neighbouring city, Tourcoing has become a major centre for wool textiles. Both cities, with their suburbs, form part of the metropolitan area of Lille. The Jardin botanique de Tourcoing is a municipal botanical garden and arboretum located at 32 rue du Moulin Fagot. This garden is open daily and admission is free. Established in 1917 on the site of a private garden, this sight offers five major sections. There is Cherry tree allée, Greenhouses for collections and education, the French garden- divided into four quadrants, the English garden and the New garden with a North American theme.
The Gare de Tourcoing is a railway station offering direct connections to Lille and Paris (high speed trains), Kortrijk, Ostend, Ghent, and Antwerp.
