Le Bourget-du-Lac is a commune in the Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France. It lies near the Lac du Bourget and the town center is 8 miles from Chambery. Le Bourget-du-lac is a popular fishing destination and sailing port. Many restaurants and hotels are situated around the lake. Much of the area surrounding Le Bourget-du-lac is mountainous, and is home to the largest number of ski hills in France.
Most of the area’s economy is based on tourism, it also profits from its natural resources with particular strength in ore processing and hydroelectric power. The areas leading exports are steel, aluminum, and electronic components. Lac du Bourget (Lake Bourget) is also known locally as Lac Gris (Grey Lake), it is a lake at the southernmost end of the Jura Mountains.
