Area Guide Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square is easily one of the most famous tourist attractions in all of London, and for this reason is an exclusive and exciting place to base any business. The area is probably one of the most recognised parts of the city and features two large fountains and Nelsonís Column Ė a monument which honours Admiral Horatio Nelson, who died in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

Trafalgar Square is also close to a number of Londonís other popular areas and attractions, with Leicester Square just a few minutesí walk away and Buckingham Palace close by, as well as a number of popular top-end bars and restaurants.

Setting up your business here

There are quite a few major businesses based in and around Trafalgar Square, including the Royal Commonwealth Society and Land Securities, the property investment corporation. A number of political offices and organisations are based around here as well, and financial companies are common. Trafalgar Square draws high crowds all year round, so the area benefits from passing trade and networking opportunities.

Culture and Entertainment

Trafalgar Square itself is one of the most popular tourist spots in London, so any visitor to the area should definitely take the time to look at the fountains and spend a few moments taking in Nelsonís Column and its surrounding buzz. For those looking for a full day out, the National Gallery is set behind Trafalgar Square and is home to a collection of over 2,300 paintings dating back to the 13th century. The National Gallery is one of the most visited art museums in the world, and is worth a look for anyone visiting Central London.

Eating out

Networking events and more formal dinners with colleagues and clients can be conducted comfortably at Thai Square, a contemporary Thai chain restaurant which provides a relaxed yet opulent atmosphere. This environment is ideal for conversation as although it looks gorgeous with Buddhist sculptures and traditional carvings, the atmosphere is kept light and unobtrusive to allow the food and conversation to take priority.

A more simple option and one thatís popular for lunches and quick bites between meetings is the Cafe in the Crypt, a wonderfully straightforward self-service cafe set within a brick-vaulted underground crypt. With gravestones dotted around, this cafe offers a unique decor and mood, and there is jazz on Wednesdays for those looking to spend a little longer taking in the atmosphere.
