Nanterre is a commune, located 11 km (7 miles) west of the city centre of Paris. It is the capital of the Hauts-de-Seine department and the seat of the Arrondissement of Nanterre. Nanterre borders Courbevoie and Puteaux, and contains a small part of the La Defense business district. The commune is also home to the University Paris X – Nanterre, one of the largest in the region.
