Area Information

Brighton is a suburb of Melbourne, in the Australian state of Victoria. It is located 11 km (7 miles) south from Melbourne’s central business district. The suburb is named after the English city of the same name. Its Local Government Area is City of Bayside. Brighton is bordered by the suburbs Elwood and Hampton. This suburb provides access to the beautiful beaches of Port Phillip Bay. The suburb has a population of about twenty-one thousand inhabitants and is one of Melbourne’s most exclusive residential areas.

Transport Information

Getting to the Brighton by plane is simple, as the suburb is located just 36 km (22 miles) from Melbourne International Airport. Brighton is serviced by four railway stations on the Sandringham line; these are Gardenvale, North Brighton, Middle Brighton, and Brighton Beach. The eastern parts of the suburb are also reachable by tram. In addition, bus services connect the suburb with the central business districts. Cyclists can take advantage of the Bay Trail off-road bicycle path, passing through the suburb’s foreshore.
